My Motivation

To Feel Better

About 15 years ago I promised myself that I would never let myself get fat. Today, at more than 15% body fat, I am getting self-concious because I feel fat. In 2005 I ate anything I wanted and still stayed naturally at 6.7% body fat. Although 15% might not seem like much to everyone, the difference to me is huge. I’ve been heading down a destructive path, and now is the time to redefine my body and my diet before it’s too late. It’s time to make sure I will be able to keep that promise I made to myself, by burning off excess fat.

  • It will feel great to have taken control and accomplished an important goal I set for myself.
  • I will increase my performance in sports such as running and cycling by reducing dead weight.
  • By liking what I see in the mirror, I will be more comfortable with myself and regain some of my lost confidence.
  • I will feel better.

To Look Better

  • Getting rid of excess fat, which I primarily carry around my mid-section, will improve my physical appearance.
  • Reducing my daily calories has made my skin less oily, and my face hasn’t looked healthier in years.
  • I will look good at the beach.
  • I will be able to show off what’s under the fat.

To Be Healthier

My diet has always been bad. I mean bad. I’ve been eating anything I’ve wanted for as long as I can remember. I’ve lived on fast food for weeks at a time. I’ve devoured all 3 bags of “3 for 2” special offers of those family sized “funsize” Twix and Bounty bags in afternoons. I’ve eaten a dozen Krispy Kremes for dinner - on several occasions. This was me. This was normal. I could get away with it, at least on the outside, because of favourable genes and a fast metabolism. But it hasn’t made me feel good. It’s actually made me feel pretty damn bad.

I hate it when my iphone gets oily. I tear my computer apart once a year to vacuum the dust that has gathered inside of it. I take good care of my things. I want to take at least as good care of my body. After all, it’s a lot more important to me, I will have it for a lot longer. It only makes sense to take care of it as best as I can. And I can take better care of it than to leave it filled up with the fat and the toxins from products by McDonalds, Mars and Krispy Kremes. That’s why I am cleaning it out, to leave it lean and healthy. Above anything, I am trying to establish a healthy long-term diet with lots of raw and whole foods, a diet I will stick with long after I reach my immediate goal of 8% body fat.
